Face & Neck Rejuvenation NYC

The face and neck age together  but they’re rarely treated together. At most practices, the neck is an afterthought. At Dr. Cris Studio, 455 Madison Avenue, Spa Level, Midtown Manhattan, I treat the face and neck as a continuous unit. A lifted, refreshed face paired with a neglected neck reads as inconsistent. A cohesive result requires addressing both.

This page covers the non-surgical rejuvenation options I use most frequently for the face and neck, how I decide between them, and what realistic outcomes look like.

What Drives Facial & Neck Aging?

Aging in the face and neck is driven by four overlapping processes happening simultaneously:

  • Volume loss: Fat compartments deflate and descend, hollowing the temples, cheeks, and under-eye area while adding weight to the lower face
  • Collagen thinning: Skin loses structural support, becoming crepey, lax, and less resilient
  • Tissue descent: Soft tissue migrates downward under gravity, softening the jawline and contributing to jowling and neck banding
  • Muscle activity: Repeated expression and platysmal banding in the neck create dynamic lines that deepen over time

No single treatment addresses all four. A well-designed rejuvenation plan uses the right tool for each driver.

Treatments for Face & Neck Rejuvenation

Botox & Dysport (Neuromodulators)
For the face, neuromodulators soften forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and brow position. For the neck, I use Botox to treat platysmal bands  the vertical cords that become prominent with age  and to create a subtle lift at the jawline (the “Nefertiti lift”). I also treat décolletage lines. Results last 3–4 months.

Dermal Fillers
Hyaluronic acid fillers restore mid-face volume, define the jawline, and soften the nasolabial folds. In the neck, small amounts of filler can address horizontal neck lines. Learn more on our dermal fillers page.

Sculptra & Radiesse (Biostimulators)
For patients with significant collagen loss in the face and neck, biostimulators provide longer-lasting structural rebuilding than HA fillers alone. Hyperdiluted Radiesse is particularly effective for skin quality improvement across the neck and décolletage. Learn more on our biostimulators page.

PDO Thread Lift
PDO threads mechanically reposition descended tissue in the lower face and neck, tightening the mandibular border and lifting early jowls. Threads work best when laxity  not volume loss  is the primary driver. I use both smooth threads (for skin quality) and barbed threads (for lifting) depending on the area and degree of descent.

HIFU (High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound)
HIFU delivers focused ultrasound energy to the deep structural layer (SMAS) of the face and neck, triggering collagen remodeling from below the skin surface. It’s a non-invasive alternative to surgical tightening, with results developing over 3–6 months. Best suited for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who want a non-injectable option for tightening.

Chemical Peels
Medical-grade chemical peels accelerate cell turnover, improve skin tone and texture, reduce hyperpigmentation, and stimulate collagen production at the surface level. At Dr. Cris Studio, I select peel depth  superficial, medium, or deep  based on your skin type, concern, and downtime tolerance. Chemical peels are particularly effective for sun damage, uneven tone, and early fine lines on the face and neck, and can be layered into a broader rejuvenation protocol for enhanced results.

CO2 Laser Resurfacing
Fractional CO2 laser is one of the most effective non-surgical tools for skin resurfacing. It ablates the outer skin layers while delivering heat to the deeper dermis, triggering significant collagen remodeling. Results include improved skin texture, reduced wrinkles, tighter skin, and correction of photodamage. CO2 resurfacing requires more downtime than most other treatments  typically 7–10 days of recovery  but the results are among the most dramatic achievable without surgery. I use it for patients with moderate to significant skin laxity, deep lines, or textural concerns that lighter treatments have not fully addressed.

Microneedling with Exosomes
For skin quality  texture, tone, fine lines, and overall skin health  microneedling with exosomes stimulates surface renewal and collagen induction at the dermal level. Particularly effective for the neck and décolletage where skin tends to be thinner and more photodamaged. A gentler alternative to CO2 for patients who cannot tolerate extended downtime.

How I Build a Face & Neck Plan

At consultation, I assess the entire face and neck as a unit: where volume has been lost, where tissue has descended, where collagen thinning is most apparent, and what’s driving the patient’s primary concern. Then I sequence the treatments in the right order  typically rebuilding the structural foundation before addressing surface quality.

For most patients, a complete face and neck plan is not one appointment. It’s a thoughtful sequence over several months that builds on itself. I discuss timelines, realistic expectations, and what maintenance looks like at every stage.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best non-surgical treatment for neck rejuvenation?
It depends on the driver. Platysmal bands respond to Botox. Skin laxity responds to HIFU, CO2, or PDO threads. Collagen loss responds to biostimulators, chemical peels, or microneedling. Most patients benefit from a combination. I assess this at consultation.

What is the difference between a chemical peel and CO2 laser?
Chemical peels use acids to exfoliate and stimulate renewal; CO2 laser uses light energy to ablate and remodel skin at a deeper level. CO2 produces more dramatic results with more downtime. Peels are more customizable by depth and skin type with less recovery. Both have a place in a comprehensive rejuvenation plan.

How long do face and neck rejuvenation results last?
Neuromodulators: 3–4 months. HA fillers: 12–18 months. Sculptra/Radiesse: 2+ years. HIFU: 12–18 months. PDO threads: 12–18 months. Chemical peels: maintenance every 3–6 months. CO2 laser: 2–5 years depending on skin care and sun exposure.

Is there downtime?
It varies by treatment. Injectables and microneedling: 24–72 hours. Chemical peels: 3–7 days depending on depth. CO2 laser: 7–10 days. HIFU: mild tenderness only. I review downtime expectations for each treatment at consultation.

Can the neck really be treated non-surgically?
Yes  to a meaningful degree. Non-surgical options work best for mild to moderate laxity and early banding. Significant redundant skin or severe descent is better addressed surgically. I’m honest about where non-surgical options have limits.

At what age should I start thinking about face and neck rejuvenation?
There is no single answer. I see patients in their 30s doing preventive collagen maintenance and patients in their 60s making meaningful improvements. The right time is when something is bothering you enough to address it.
