Botox NYC — Dr. Cris Studio

At Dr. Cris Studio, Botox and Dysport are not about freezing expression. They are about restoring the version of yourself that feels most like you  refreshed, rested, and natural. Located on Madison Avenue in Midtown Manhattan, our practice is built on precision dosing, anatomical expertise, and an aesthetic philosophy that believes less is always more when applied correctly. Whether you are new to injectables or have been doing them for years, you will notice the difference in how we approach every treatment.

What Is Botox and How Does It Work?

Botox (onabotulinumtoxinA) and Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA) are FDA-approved neuromodulators derived from botulinum toxin type A. When injected into specific facial muscles, they temporarily interrupt the nerve signal that tells that muscle to contract. The result is a softening of the dynamic wrinkles — the lines caused by repetitive movement like squinting, frowning, and smiling  without affecting the underlying structure of your face. The treatment takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes, requires no downtime, and produces results that develop gradually over 5 to 14 days.

Botox vs. Dysport Which One Is Right for You?

Both are neuromodulators with the same active mechanism, but they differ in molecular weight and diffusion pattern. Dysport has a smaller protein complex and tends to spread slightly more, making it an excellent choice for larger surface areas like the forehead. Botox is more localized and precise, which is ideal for fine detail work around the eyes and lips. At Dr. Cris Studio, we carry both and select based on your anatomy, the area being treated, and the result you are seeking. You do not need to arrive with a preference  we will recommend what will perform best for your specific face.

Treatment Areas

We treat the full spectrum of neuromodulator areas, customized to your facial anatomy and aesthetic goals.

  • Forehead lines — horizontal lines across the upper forehead
  • Frown lines (glabella) — the vertical lines between the eyebrows, often called the "11s"
  • Crow's feet — the lines radiating from the outer corners of the eyes
  • Brow lift — a strategic placement that elevates and arches the brow without surgery
  • Bunny lines — the diagonal creases on the nose that appear when you scrunch
  • Lip flip — a micro-dose just above the upper lip that gently rolls the lip outward for a fuller look without filler
  • Masseter reduction — relaxes the jaw muscles for face slimming, teeth grinding relief, and TMJ symptom reduction
  • Neck (Nefertiti lift) — softens the platysmal bands along the neck and redefines the jawline
  • Décolletage — addresses the fine lines and crepiness of the chest
  • Trapezius (Traptox) — relaxes the upper trapezius muscle to slim the neck-shoulder silhouette and relieve tension
  • Hyperhidrosis — reduces excessive sweating in the underarms, palms, or hairline

BabyTox — the Dr. Cris Approach

One of our most requested techniques is what we call BabyTox: a preventive, micro-dosed application of neuromodulator that softens lines before they become etched into the skin. Rather than waiting until wrinkles are deep and require significant correction, BabyTox places small amounts strategically to maintain natural movement while consistently preventing the lines from deepening. It is ideal for patients in their mid-20s through 30s who want to age gracefully  and for any patient who has been told they look "overdone" elsewhere and wants a lighter touch. Results look effortless because they are meant to.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Your appointment begins with a consultation  even if you have been treated before. We assess your muscle activity, facial symmetry, skin quality, and the specific concerns you want to address. We photograph your face at rest and in motion to map the placement precisely. The injection itself is performed with the finest gauge needles available and takes 10 to 15 minutes. Most patients describe the sensation as a series of mild pinches. There is no required downtime; however, we ask that you avoid strenuous exercise, lying flat, and facial massage for four hours after treatment. Results emerge over the following five to fourteen days and typically last three to four months, extending with consistent treatment over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Botox last?

Most patients experience results for three to four months. With consistent treatment over time, many patients find that results gradually extend to five or six months, as the muscles being treated become conditioned to less activity. Factors including metabolism, muscle mass, and sun exposure all influence longevity.

Will I look frozen or unnatural?

Not at Dr. Cris Studio. Our philosophy is rooted in preserving natural expression while softening what you want softened. Overcorrection  the frozen, expressionless appearance people associate with bad Botox — is a placement and dosing error, not an inherent property of the treatment. We use conservative doses and precise anatomical placement to ensure you look like yourself, only rested.

When will I see results?

Initial softening typically begins within three to five days. Full results are visible at fourteen days. We schedule a complimentary two-week follow-up for all new patients to assess the result and make any minor adjustments if needed.

Is there any downtime?

There is no social downtime. You may have minor redness or pinpoint marks at injection sites that resolve within a few hours. We recommend avoiding vigorous exercise, lying flat, and facial massage for four hours post-treatment. You can return to work, social engagements, and light activity immediately.

Can I combine Botox with other treatments?

Yes. Botox pairs exceptionally well with dermal fillers, biostimulators, exosome therapy, and laser treatments. Many of our patients combine neuromodulators with other services on the same visit. We will guide you on the optimal sequencing and timing based on your full treatment plan.

What is the difference between Botox and filler?

Botox relaxes muscles to prevent wrinkle-causing movement  it does not add volume. Dermal fillers (such as hyaluronic acid fillers) restore or add volume to specific areas like the cheeks, lips, temples, and under-eye hollows. Most comprehensive facial rejuvenation plans include both, used strategically for different purposes.

How do I know how many units I need?

Unit needs vary significantly based on muscle mass, treatment area, and the result you want. A strong masseter muscle requires more units than a delicate glabellar area. We assess your muscle activity at your consultation and recommend a dose tailored to your anatomy  never a one-size-fits-all number.
