Biostimulators NYC — Sculptra & Radiesse | Dr. Cris Studio

Biostimulators NYC: Sculptra & Radiesse at Dr. Cris Studio

Not all volume loss is the same  and not all solutions are fillers.

At Dr. Cris Studio, located at 455 Madison Avenue, Spa Level, Midtown Manhattan, I offer two of the most clinically validated collagen biostimulators available: Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) and Radiesse (calcium hydroxyapatite). Both work by triggering your body's own collagen production rather than simply adding volume. The result looks different from filler  it looks like you, rebuilt from within.

What Is a Biostimulator?

A biostimulator is an injectable treatment that stimulates your body to produce new collagen rather than placing a gel in a specific location. Unlike hyaluronic acid fillers, which add immediate volume that gradually dissolves, biostimulators work over weeks and months to rebuild the structural matrix of your skin. Results are gradual, natural-looking, and significantly longer-lasting  typically 2 or more years.

Sculptra (PLLA)

Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid microparticles that are absorbed by your tissue and trigger a sustained collagen response. It is my preferred treatment for patients with diffuse mid-face volume loss, hollow temples, or overall facial deflation. It requires patience  results develop over 3 to 6 months across 2 to 3 sessions  but the outcome is among the most natural I produce in this practice.

Radiesse (CaHA)

Radiesse uses calcium hydroxyapatite microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. It provides immediate structural support while simultaneously stimulating collagen over time  a dual-action effect that makes it particularly effective for the jawline, lower face, and hands. Hyperdiluted Radiesse is also used for global skin quality improvement and body treatments.

Sculptra vs. Radiesse: Which Is Right for You?

The choice between the two depends on your anatomy, goals, and timeline. I assess this at every consultation  there is no universal answer. Some patients benefit from both.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do biostimulator results last?
Sculptra typically lasts 2 to 2.5 years; Radiesse lasts 12 to 18 months for standard injections, longer for some areas.

How many sessions do I need?
Sculptra usually requires 2 to 3 sessions. Radiesse is often effective in 1 to 2 sessions depending on the area.

Can biostimulators be combined with fillers?
Yes  I frequently layer biostimulators with HA fillers for foundation plus precision contouring.

Are biostimulators reversible?
Neither Sculptra nor Radiesse can be dissolved like HA filler. They absorb naturally over time. This is why candidacy assessment matters.

Who is a good candidate?
Patients in their late 30s to 60s with gradual volume loss, skin laxity, or those who want longer-lasting, natural-looking results without repeat filler maintenance.
